1999-2000 Interfaith Report to the Northern California Local Council

from Rowan Fairgrove, Elder Priestess
28 June 2000

In September of 1999 I finished my Goddess 2000/72 Hours for Peace mural and offered it to the Interfaith Center at the Presidio (ICP) for their 72 Hour event. They asked me to attend Program Committee meetings and help plan that event and the anniversary of the Chapel dedication.

On October 11, 1999, I attended the ICP rededication themed "Gathering of Blessings - Sharing Our Blessings" with other members of NCLC.

November 9, 1999, I attended an event at ICP hosted by NCLC for the URI Transition Advisory Group.

In December I was in Cape Town for the Parliament of the Worlds Religions (which we reported on elsewhere). I assisted Don Frew & Cathi Starr with the Wiccan service in the ICP's Friday night 72 Hour event. My mural was set up in the meeting room for the 72 Hours.

February 2000, at PantheaCon, I joined others who had attended the Parliament in offering a panel on Pagans in Interfaith which shared info about the Parliament and other interfaith initiatives. I made photo boards of our PWR experiences with captions for this event.

March 4, 2000 I attended the first meeting of Bay Area people who attended the Parliament. About 40 of the 400 attended. The photo boards were also shared at this meeting. Subsequent meetings of this group produced the Bay Area Supporters of the PWR Cooperation Circle (a unit of the URI).

On March 29th I participated in the 3d annual Women's week event at Menlo College which had women of several religions speaking on the divine feminine. This is the second time I've appeared at this event.

Beginning on April 21, I began volunteering every Friday at the URI office in San Francisco to assist them in getting ready for the Global Summit. I scanned scores of 72 hours pictures from around the world and corrected them in Photoshop. I chose the photos and pasted up the current URI trifold brochure. Russell Williams and I printed (and donated) over 80 8x10 prints from the URI scans to be used at the Summit. Russell also donated a copy of Adobe Premier and Adobe InDesign to help with video and document work.

On June 22, 2000 I flew to Pittsburgh and helped set up the computers for the URI office at the Global Summit. I also helped moderate a forum during the actual Charter signing event. I created a montage from pictures taken at the Summit to head the first page at uri.org to express the Pittsburgh happenings.

I also regularly meet and work with other members of the United Religions Initiative web team starting fall 1999 to the present.
